passion, Possibilities, and attitude
I have strong opinions. In endless supply.
I have many interests. And indulge them all.
I have something to give. Something that you are not even aware that you need.

My current downtown historic district project is the grandest yet. The original portion of this Frederick, MD building was built in 1794, a mere 18 years after the United States of America became the United States of America.
Section by section I am bringing it into updated, creative commercial use while honoring its very long history as a cherished home. Exposed brick. Crystal chandeliers. Heart pine floors. I have given this place the level of investment it deserves -- and I am not done yet! It is a welcoming, vibrant destination designed for creatives, friends, and the business of making the world a better place. |
I have awful memories of my mother dragging me to junk stores when I was a kid. Junk stores! Seriously. And it seemed like we were there for hours in dingy, musty, poorly lit hovels filled with piles of old, broken, worn out, mismatched crap.
Fast forward. I love old, broken, worn out, mismatched crap!! These little misfits belonged to people who at one time thought they were pretty awesome. Many of them hold stories that should be shared. And each piece holds an even greater history -- from the designer to the maker to the shop owner to the buyer. Show some respect, people!
I needed to satisfy my urge to discover, rescue, and revive fabulous vintage items but do it without becoming a hoarder. So I am creating a vintage shopping experience for groups of friends to enjoy each other's company then go home with artistically enhanced vintage vignettes. And shared memories. Vintage shopping parties and vintage arts crafting parties coming in 2019! No profit, just pure passion.

I have always been an ideas person. Grand visions of what is possible. Creative strategies to get there. And the itch to take action on it just as quickly as I could. But alas, government is not known for its grand visions, creative strategies, or quick action. So, as you can imagine, my government career is occasionally just a tad bit frustrating.
As I ease slowly toward retirement age, I thought it was time to start building for what I would do after Federal government life. Something that would satisfy that creative, strategic energy but in a way that I would never have to choose just one cause. Enter, Moxie & Momentum.
After one failed attempt to create a side hustle in consulting (wow, I really hated traditional consulting!), I decided that doing what others wanted at their direction was not for me. Duh. Have you met me? What the hell was I thinking?
Moxie & Momentum is about 3 things. Creativity. Entrepreneurship. Social Purpose. It is for leaders & their teams who have the moxie to set audacious goals and the hutzpah to make serious progress toward them. Creatives gain from business and social purpose perspectives. Entrepreneurs gain from creativity and social purpose insights. Nonprofit leaders gain from creative thinking and business sense.
A little coaching. A little training. A little advice. And ok, a little consulting. But mostly I am a design partner in creating a vision for what is possible and how to pick up the pace in getting there.

I wanted to call this endeavor The Lullaby Project. It is my way of healing a broken heart after losing my dearest Lullaby to mammary cancer. But Carnegie Hall already had the moniker so I had to dig deep to understand exactly what it was that inspired me.
It turns out that it was joy. Pure joy that I saw and received from my girl every single day.
The Pure Joy Cat Project isn't something that Lullaby would be very happy about. I don't think she cared much for other cats other than one of her sisters. Lullaby was a people cat. But there are so many cats and kittens available to heal our broken hearts, to keep us company, to listen to our complaints, and to teach us how to truly enjoy life. I want all of those cats to live true to themsleves and share the kind of Pure Joy that you can only get from a feline friend.
Kit Kat Klub weekends to promote the adoption of shelter cats and kittens. Think cat cafe without the cafe part. Just quality time spent with a brood of felines. Just Pure Joy. Guests are encouraged to donate to national and local animal rescue and shelter operations while they are visting.
You can also check out some creative cat bios for a few of the temporary residents of the Frederick County Animal Shelter.
THIS PROJECT IS CURRENTLY ON HIATUS. TIME FOR A PIVOT TO REDEISGN HOW TO DO THE MOST GOOD.
